hi, i've just made a little game with java as part of a project in uni and now i've gotta try and find out the minimum system requirements for it. as it actually runs on the worst machine i can get my hands on (400mhz 32ram) i was wondering if there's any other way of finding out the system requirements for it?

They are probably somewhere around the requirements for the JRE itself.

"# Windows 98 (1st and 2nd edition) or
# Windows ME or
# Windows NT (service pack 6a) or
# Windows 2000 (service pack 3) or
# Windows XP Home or
# Windows XP Professional (service pack 1)
# Windows 2003 Server Editions

You will also need Pentium 166MHz or faster processor with a minimum of 125MB free disk space and a minimum of 32MB of RAM."

Also Linux, Linux AMD64, Solaris SPARC, and Solaris x86 from Sun and OSX through apple.

A download of the JRE requires ~15MB of disk space for most of the platforms, but I sincerely doubt that will come close to 125MB unpacked. I think Kurt might have been looking at the SDKs.

You'll want to list how much random access memory and CPU your game uses, what the graphics and sound requirements are, if it's online you should state the minimum speed required, and how much disk space your program requires.

If necessary, you can get the amount of RAM your game + JRE uses from the process list in WinXP, I think Linux actually has a better one if you're using it
