View Full Version : CSS Help on layout...

Hi there,

I just viewed my friends webpage and noticed that within his source code he has not used a single table for layout etc etc. I am familiar with layout concerning simple text elements but am uncertain about how to use it to contain other elemtns...eg, like a table. This sound confusing I know but check it out for yourself...

I'm pretty certain it's CSS but how is it done? Also, where can I find a good online resource for CSS?

Many thanks for your help. ;)

most css layouts use div tags that have id's or classes then they are called in the css, here is a link that u may find useful http://www.w3schools.com/css/default.asp

At first, I got an internal server error; now, I get some lame currency converter.
Single page, nothing fancy. What's so special about it? No positioning needed, just a bit of color, a border and some white space.

By the way, the main site is a horrible, table-ridden mess.

That's not the basis of how HTML/CSS works. Yes, you CAN use div tags, but CSS can be applied to any html tag. Too many people are just equating CSS with "replace <table> with <div>" but that is totally wrong and bloated.

Coding with standards can be described pretty simply: Code the page structurally and semantically. Style as needed.
