I post a few days ago about re-designing a website for an 'Interface Design' project and I have a screenshot here for you lot to look at and give me feedback for if you can please!

It's not finished of course as there is plenty more to be add and you can't use the flash menu bar (of course) but crit welcome!

Thanks :)

Ps - The original site is found at http://www.hullcc.gov.uk/hullnewtheatre/index.php

I like the new design more than the current one - your one is easier to view and is more consistant in ways of colours, layout and navigation

Yup, that's smashing ;)

Why a Flash nav though?

Plus - If I was a visitor to the site, interested in finding out what was happening at the theatre - then I'd rather see it online, rather than in a downloadable PDF. Have the theatre programme as a html doc(s) with the option to download it as a PDF for reference.

hey...i agree with that one being much better..but i must say I really despise those stock images you find with people looking up with smiles on their face. They are a major turn off for me. Try getting a picture of what you're selling...might ride better.

Haha, I totally agree, it's just kinda there as a place holder for something else.

To the person who asked about the Flash menu...well, I felt it add to the useability. It's very subtle and tasteful...just a simply rollover and text hint that's all...only 6kb in size so meh! :)

Thanks everyone.

Would you like me to book you into the Betty Ford clinic in advance :p

Flash menu to aid usability > well that's a whole different debate - but 'usability' and 'Flash' don't often crop up in the same sentence! If you're just after a few subtle effects, then why not do it with html/css? Loads of good ones here http://css.maxdesign.com.au/listamatic/ that you can adapt.

I agree the stock image needs to go. Need a photo that has some kind of relevance to the site or to the text in the page. Now if the page talked about bringing your family to come see the shows or something like that then it would be fine otherwise use some kind of photo depicting the theater itself or the shows being played at the theater.

Other than that I think it looks great.

Yeah, what is it with those stock photos? Everyone always look UP. Like how in family portraits everyone is looking slightly to the left.

Maybe "stock photographers" are all very tall. Too tall to get a regular photography job where you have to crouch a lot.

The site looks great; I love the large, easy to read, point-you-in-the-right-place navigation image.
