EDIT: Old version is already overwritten by the new one.

I think I prefer the newer version. The dark background in particular makes it stand out more, and the rounded edges give an all-in-one feel to it. The main thing I don't like is the "Skip to Content" link in the top-right corner. It just doesn't seem to fit. All in all, I think you've done pretty well  .

I agree with chilipie. The older version seems a little washed out color wise. Before the banner was so out of contrast with the rest of the page that it's pretty stark. By adding the dark background it helps pull it together. The skip to content link seems unnessecary. Even in 800x600 the content is on the screen.

All in all it looks very clean. I like.

New version = nice. The subtle touches really give it that edge, good work tbh

er...I prefer the new one - the rounded edges and dark background give a better composite effect than the straight edge, white backgrounded design

Okay, I think we have a winner. Thank you all for the great feedback :)

In the main content area, the green color of "news" is a bad contrast with the white background. The same goes for your favicon. That green doesn't fit with white very well; there's not enough contrast so it's a bit hard on the eyes.

And I don't see how those curly bracket things match with the site at all. I'm talking about your H3 background image. Those call to mind more Victorian designs and that doesn't match your super-modern header image.
