Hey

I was playing a game today and hit my spacebar and all the sudden it seems like its broken, i say this because it works only on about 20% of the bars surface area, I took the keyboard apart and examined it and found NO broken parts but when I put it back together it still is actingup. It lifts up on the opposite end of the side you press down on, I did absolutely nothing to harm the board it just stopped working how it was supposed to adn I belive it has to do with the 'spring' thing that bounces the space bar back up. Under the space bar there is a metal bar that looks like this [ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ] that sits on 4 square posts, the underside of the keyboard had a slim round peg on each side and a square one that slips into on ofthe holes. does anyone have any idea how I could go about fixing this? I dont really want to buy a new keyboard because this one is worth about 30 bucks and is fairly new but old enugh to where I dont have the recept or box to where I couldreturn it.

if it was me i would take the whole thing to pieces and clean in between the plastic layers with meth spirits or some other alcohol based solvent because it could be some dirt or grease thats causing your problem

... not recommended for the novice user. it takes a bit of practice to clean a keyboard properly

Ya, do you think that could really be the problem? I already took the keys off and found tons of my goatee haris and lint in there so maybe ill clean it further today. Its just odd because it is kinda acting like a teeter totter now and it doesnt seem that dirt would do that.

Wouldn't it be less time consuming to buy a new keyboard? However cleaning it seems a good option..

Ya it prbably would be less timeconsuming but 30 bucks is alot for me to just give up on when its fairly new.

if you want a quicker way to dry the keys...

wrap them in a dishtowel (tied up of course!) and put it in the tumble drier for 20 minutes

I washed it and it still is doing the teeter-totter number when you hit it. It has to be with how the metal clip is sitting under the space bar istelf .....lol holy hell I think I just fixed it, it was buggin me so i hit it and now it works perfectly again, what are the odds.....Lesson learned: when it doesnt work beat the crap out of it lol

lol ill have to keep that one in mine, percussive maintanence. Thanks for all your help tho, now I have a clean keybaord too, to dry it I just put the parts into the middle oven rack and turned it on warm with the door open and it worked well
