ASP Vs. ASP.Net

Hello!

Would you please help me give a comprehensive comparison of ASP Vs. ASP.net in plain English for I am new to programming world?

Also if you could direct me to any resources of beginning programming world (explaining programming jargons in plain English, for example about CLR, run-time)
