I guess you guys can take your pick at which problem you want to tackle.

1)
We just got an Epson Stylus CX4600 and I can not for the life of me get this thing to print. They didn't give me a connector so I stole the old usb connector off my other Epson as the ports where the same(usb). I ran the set up, they told me to plug in the printer to the computer and turn it on, it goes on and installs all the other software and no test page. But I suppose the drivers are atleast installed. I go to printers and faxes under control panel and add my printer and set the port to USB001 since it's connect to a usb port with a usb cable. Still won't print a test page. I have a printer icon in my task bar, when clicking on it I get a communication error. Wonderful. I finally just said f it, so now I turn to you. Useful specs : Windows XP home SP1, Epson Stylus CX4600, Printer driver is not not signed for use with XP but in the manual says it will work with XP.

2)
I can not create a new workgroup on the same computer. I go through the networking wizard, and at the very end it gives an error about creating the workgroup failed. I have two computers (Debian and XP) connected to router. Steps I took to attempt set up.
Run Network Setup Wizard
Choose Other
Choose This computer connects through a network hub....
Enter in computer description, computer name, and workgroup name(homenetwork)
Recieve error message.

Cannot Complete the Network Setup Wizard

An error occurred during configuration of the network on this computer.

You can configure your network manually, or you can run the wizard again with different settings.

If I can setup a network I can hopefully just install the printer on to Debian and then tell Windows to connect to the printer through the network.

1) Several things. I would try completely removing ALL epson drivers, rebooting, and then doing a reinstall of the new drivers, with the printer disconnected. Then connect the printer & see if XP automagically finds it.
I would also try a different USB port, if available.
drop to a command prompt and type the following:

dir > USB001

and see if it prints anything.

Make sure the printer is powered on ;)

2) You shouldn't need to run the network wizard. Right-click 'my computer' -> properties -> Computer Name -> Click the "Change" button. Change your information in there.

You can also right-click my network places, and click properties. Then click properties on your NIC, click "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)" and then click properties and set your IP information (if the router doesn't do it automatically for you.

Let me know how these methods go.
