Before and After...

Have a look at this site Before (http://www.whatsinmypocket.co.uk/virus/) and i was going to say 'after' but i've been meaning to finish this layout off for the last 4 weeks and just havent got round to it. I think mid-way (http://www.whatsinmypocket.co.uk/virus/newsite) might be a better option.

Ideas for improvement, comments on so far are welcome. Bear in mind its only half finished

To be honest, I don't think the second one is that much better. I don't like the use of yellow - I think the first design looks a lot cleaner. The JS jiggery-pokery with the slide about boxes is very cool, but it doesn't really serve a purpose; it just means it takes longer to access the real content.

A good effort, but I think there is plenty of room for improvement.

To offer a second opinion... I actually like the layout of the new site a lot more. It's cleaner and easier to navigate. My eyes tend to wander to my menu choices rather than search around for something-- anything-- to give me information.

About the code, though... auuurrgle. Nothing is laid out semantically; it's a textbook case of divitis. I would definitely think about how to structure the page in a more logical manner, and then apply divs only when needed.

Also, the menu is solely javascript, which certainly looks cool, but you might want to add a text-only version somewhere for those browsers with javascript disabled.

Those are my first impressions, but I have to say (IMO) that you're on the right track.

nothing wrong with constructive critcism... I put this project on the back burner about 4 weeks ago and havent gone near it since. Looked at it this morning and began to have second thoughts about the whole setup

My opinion....

Really Like the layout of the 2nd one - very easy to follow

but not fond of the red & yellow - or the red alone either. a very very bright color - rather hard on the eyes
