It wouldn't be to hard to set up a counter running from your host, and then apply display: none; to a div or span tag around the counter.

The page counter I use is from statcounter (http://www.statcounter.com) they have a free version, and other versions that you can pay for, after you set the counter style up and whatever else, its a breeze to see how many people has went to your site, from what page, what country/state/isp, what type of system they use, what their screen size is, and alot more information. WELL worth the process.
