If the page you wish to use the function on is a child window of back1.html you can use opener.function()

What is its relationship to the other page?

If there is no relationship between the two documents then how do you expect the one to reference any object of the other??

Since there is no relationship, you will need to include the function as an external javascript file in the page you wish to use the function... but I have a feeling that not only is there not a relationship, but both documents are on seperate domains and your true problem is you do not have cross site scripting permissions...

Eitherway, you need to provide alot more details than you have, preferably a link... Anything less is a waste of time trying to guess back and forth of what is going on, on your end...

Good Luck;
