Sorry if this is a silly question, but I've just set up a POP3 a/c using OE as the client. I dont normally use this and am not really aware of the settings.
The problem is that it wont allow attachments to be recieved. It brings in the email but says something like 'OE would not allow the attachment for security reasons'.
I've looked at the security settings but dont see anything obvious.
Any ideas please?

it's the new "secure" email client - and the only way to fix it is to a) not use OE or b) hack the registry.
I'll see if I can find the relevant keys for you...

While this is news to me, I question the integrity of this information. That would be like not allowing any files on your PC because they might have a virus. . .the ends just don't justify the means. You have to be able to recieve attachments, I can't imagine MS having that poor of a business sense. Seems there is a setting for this in OE located at:
Tools | Options ... | Security
"Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus"

You question the "integrity" of the information? I'm only telling you what I have experienced at my work - I forgot to detail that it depends on the extension of the attachment - anything that could contain executable script or code is barred by default.
Have you tried a .zip file?
Some information to check on:

This is just in reaction to the public demanding "more secure software"...

Thanks have to go to Basscyst who identified the problem, namely -
Tools | Options ... | Security
"Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus"
I'm not really used to this program yet, so many thanks to all who suggested solutions but particulary to Basscyst who nailed it.
BTW, the attachments are .pdf files

Basscyst,
I work with Outlook rather than OE - and there is no equivalent setting within the program, and it is only with a registry hack that you can allow extensions through.
I forgot that Outlook Express does have that in the settings.
