A good first start I suppose.
Poorly coded. No html/body tags and no DOCTYPE. Font tags and marquees *retches*
There is no real structure to the page. It's like one of those annoying MatMice (http://www.matmice.com/) sites where you have to scroll down through about 5 pages worth of stuff. Get some sort of navbar, instead of making me scroll down to the links.
Small, dark-green, text in a serif font is BLOODY HARD TO READ ON A BLACK BACKGROUND!
You don't have any unique content. The stuff you got might be good, but why would people come to your site when they can see the exact same stuff everywhere else?
Finally, get a better host. Geocities suck.
I may seem harsh, but it is constructive critcism.
See you around on the forums :) .
Better than my first web page (which I made in eighth grade), but I didn't learn any of the concepts of good web design for at least a year after. I had the marquee tags and everything (only I think my text was blue).
To a beginner, marquee tags can seem like a good way to add some movement to your site with minimal effort. Animation can be a good thing, but in the case of horizontally (or vertically, or any angle for that matter) scrolling text simply having static (not moving) content is a far better design call.
Though you probably shouldn't be expected to have code that would pass w3c validation as a beginner, it's a good habit to pick up before you begin coding larger or more complicated pages.
Make your pages two-dimensional to increase space efficiency and reduce the amount of scrolling that users have to do to get to your content. It will also improve the overall visual appeal of your site. There are many ways to do this including CSS positioning, frames, and tables.
Choose a font that stands out on your background. It's already been said, but your content isn't very meaningful to a user that can't read it. If there is any doubt that someone will be able to read it easily, select a different font or at least increase the contrast between the background and your text.
