This has bothered me for quite some time now.

15 October (10.15.2004) this year, I sent a message to my host, where I requested them to add DomXML/XSL support for PHP. I explained them that Expat, which they had already installed, was not advanced enough to fill my needs.

As I said it's been nearly two months since I sent them that message. They still haven't answered nor have they added the DomXML support.

The PHP DomXML site states that "this extension is experimental", "use this extension at your own risk". I understand if they don't want to risk anything, but at least they could've informed me, right?

And the question is: Has this ever happened to you? How long does it usually take for your host to answer or do what you've asked them to do?

It depends on the host ...

I don't want to put you or your host "on the spot", but
who is your host?

Some hosts you can actually call a toll-free number and speak
to a real live person. Others, have just a form you fill out and
communicate via email. Some have knowledgeable techs that
speak the same language, others have phone answering clerks
that not only speak (English, in my case) poorly, but know very
little about technical issues.

For those reading this that are looking into selecting a web host,
keep these things in mind ... shop around and get references.
