Edit: My apologies to Internet Explorer Users. I just now checked how it looked in IE. I'll be sure to fix that, lol.
I saw the sticky topic here with XHTML/CSS based layouts that looked spiffy...unfortunately mine doesn't QUITE meet the criteria; I've used tables to aid my design.
Anyways...opinions on the site are welcome. I'd like to know what people think of it so I can find ways to improve.
Thanks!

You could very easily convert that to a table free design, why hold back?

The dropshadow on the left side of the header seems lighter than any other dropshadow. Is it just me or is there a problem there? Also, this should be moved into Site Reviews.

My bad on the site reviews...didn't even see that up there. Sorry.
As for table-free. I might try that out soon. To be honest, I don't really know anything yet about designing with anything other than tables. If you know of any good tutorials I'd be glad to take a look, otherwise I'll google it sometime.
As for the drop shadow...the left and right sides are identical to one another.

For the other side of the tables/css debate you might like to visit http://www.barry.pearson.name/articles/layout_tables/

Layout-wise, its not half bad. The header text would look a lot better in white, or maybe a silver or light metallic effect, with a dark navy border round the letters.
The links in the sidebar seem to jar with the plain html text in thew main column. Is it just me, or are graphic-text links starting to look really dated?

Graphic links are very dated. I voiced a similar concern on another review.
And if the links are changed to text, they can be easily modified, changed, moved around... And just about every basic rollover effect you'd want to do can be done with CSS.

Alrightie. I messed around with the header image some...every combination of silverey or white I could come up with for the text didn't seem to fit. It gave the effect that the text was separate, not part of the banner, so I didn't really like it.
As for graphic images...what do you propose I do? If I take the small graphic on the left side out then it just really loses interest. Would it be best to have the little icon, then just text for the link, instead of making the link part of the image?

Overall, very nice, I really like the shadows you put underneath the whole table, it adds some nice depth to the site. However, a lil more color would be cool and also, I can't stand how your side navigation menu is using images instead of CSS links. A nicely designed CSS roleover would look so much more professional instead of using images. Not to mention a quicker load time. My 2 cents :)
