Hey Im building a website for a guy and he has created a powerpoint presentation that he wants to basically be the site (ie navigate using it). Does anyone know if its possible/how to put Powerpoint presentations in your website. Im using Dreamweaver MX. Thanks.

I think you just upload it (using an FTP program), just like it is.

Then link to it. It will download and open in PowerPoint.
Only people with PowerPoint will be able to open it.

i think you misunderstood...alien wants the powerpoint file to be the navigation of the site...

Well that's not going to happen. Powerpoint files are not files that web browsers can display. I'd say your best bet is to try to convert the file to Flash and because flash files work on most browsers..

Of course you can always just try to recreate what your client has given you in HTML and CSS...which would probably be the surest bet for success..If you can't find something that will convert powerpoint to flash, it probably doesn't exist so don't try too hard to find it...

I believe Powerpoint has an option to export a presentation as a set of "HTML" pages. Not being a Powerpoint expert myself, please don't hold this against me; AFAIK the results of this export were typical Microsoft "Eeeewww (tm)" BGML (Bill Gates Markup Language) pages, so some extensive cleaning up will be in order.

As already suggested by Jalenack, it might be quicker and surely a lot cleaner to build something from scratch.

you don't need anything special for this. Just use file --> Save as webpage . I've done it planty of times (to integrate a Powerpoint presentation with the real online app for instane) and it's realy easy.

ok, I read the rules & hope I'm following them. I have googled, & this is where I ended up. Several web hosting sites were unable to answer. So...
In my complete ignorance, I designed a website on Powerpoint. I understand how to save it as a web page, but I don't have a web site, & I don't know where to look for one which would allow me to use my 3 pages of powerpoint slides, with links connecting them & maybe a hyperlink for the map. Sorry this is so elementary, but I also don't have skilled friends, so will you be my s.f.?
Thanks!

You know you're posting to a 6 year old thread right? I would start a new thread if I were you with your own question.

You can share your presentation on the web if you make it with google docs easily
