Hi,

I've been online most of yesterday and today trying to fathom the best way to manage our email list subscriptions and subsequent newsletters.

On the new site that i'm building there will be a 'join here' button that will take you to a form for joining our emailing list. I'm baffled by the amount of software and hosting companies for this service. I don't fancy using one that is pay by month. I think i'd rather use a piece of software that is an outright purchase.

I'm looking for something like www.emailtools.co.uk/iMailer.htm or www.email-manager-pro.com/ - something that is not too expensive and will make managing incoming email list requests and sending out newsletters easy.

Any advice or info on the products you currently use and would recommend would be greatly appreciated.

no matter how much you pay for a script, you will usually not get one (unless its custom built) that is exactly what you want. my suggestions:

either build one yourself that is exactly what you want,

or

use the money you would pay for a purchase to pay a freelance developer to make it for you, if you don't know how to.

not sure if this is the kind of advice you're looking for but this is what i'd do in your situation. if you need to look for freelance developers, there are hundreds on these forums, and if you still can't find one, PM me and i'll tee you up with someone.

hope it helps, cya

thanks scrowler.

I think we're gonna go ahead and have one custom built using asp.

cool, you're welcome.

i don't know about asp scripts, but with a php script, i wouldn't pay more than about $30 USD for one of these scripts to be built, because even at $20 USD per hour, it wouldn't take 90 minutes to write a sufficient mailing list script in PHP.

just thought you should know that, because especially if you're paying over $100 USD for an asp script, i don't think it's worth it, although you may get more features and better stability in a script for that price, or a ripoff.

hope it helps

I've been using this one myself for quite some time and usually purchase and install it for my clients as well when they want that type of capability.
