Scheme based loosely on my other site redblizzard design (http://www.redblizzard.tk/). It seems to be fine in FF, Moz. and IE on PC (Win. XP SP2), so any screenshots of what it looks like on a Mac would be cool  .

Thanks in advance guys, Ol.

Ok; here goes:

In Opera 7.1/pc, there's a gap at the top and bottom of the page. The padding for body has not been set to zero. Give that a shot to see if the gap is fixed.

"Updates" is right against the nav bar in IE and Opera, but it's about 10px down from the nav bar in NS.

The gray :hover color of the nav is hard to read against the red. If you need to go gray there, think of a lighter gray (#999 or #c0c0c0 or something).

Since there is a gradient for the right and left sides (missing on the right side of the body content in IE, NS, and Opera / pc, btw), and the striped background doesn't blend into that, it looks odd. That's probably an idea you need to smooth out, no pun intended. Well, ok, it *was* intended. As a result of the missing right-side gradient, though, the main content is on a different colored background, which I like. It sets that content apart from everything else.

I don't like that striped, horizontal bar background. The main content of the sight is more smooth than that. The harsh lines sit oddly with me and are distracting in my peripheral vision. If you must keep those lines, make them lighter and less conspicuous.

Also, since you have a bright red cap at top for the nav bar, I wonder if your footer should be that same treatment to cap it at the bottom.

The <hr>s aren't lining up correctly in IE/pc (they are aligned to the left). Consider changing those to CSS controlled "border-bottom"s, instead.

And, finally, you haven't given me control over my font size in IE (a browser lacking any "zoom" like the others). When I change it to "largest" in IE, nothing happens. Of course, in NS and Opera, zoom works fine, but I don't want to zoom, I just want larger text (not really, but you take my point). Change the font-size declarations to "em"s and that should be fixed. And, if you do that, don't forget to add "font-size: 100%" to the body declaration.

The design idea is fine, but you might want to consider that this does look an awful lot like your main site. I'm always suspicious when I look at the people's site who designed something and their site design is strikingly similar. Particullarly if that site is selling themselves as a design company. A design company impresses me when they have a wide variety of designs implemented in their work. Just a thought...maybe a blog entry later...

looks great on mac...at least on safari...as soon as I get to my work comp with that has most of the mac browsers i'll take some pics for you...

only thing I noticed was on the footer it looked i tiny bit weird on the right side cuz it didn't match up with any sort of border on the right like it did on the left..

nice design, very smooth looking...I think the title image could be a little better..not very sharp, i mean it has good colors and stuff but the font isn't terribly interesting..great color scheme..the top links hover could have a little more contrast against the red.
Great site!

Thanks guys, I'll try and sort out those problemos when I finish my history essay. Anyone know anything about the Gunpowder Plot :) ? Error?

V2 is now up: http://redblizzard.astahost.com/mos/v2/

The design idea is fine, but you might want to consider that this does look an awful lot like your main site.
Let's just say I'm not one for original ideas :p .

I like V2 much better!

What about making those nav :hovers a shade of the blue you're using, though? And how about making the footer links a shade of the grey you are using? The :hover color in the footer works, but the white's too hard to read against the fading background. And is that fade in the footer necessary? I'm just trying to encourage some different designs than your other sites.

You have a header that's colorful (can you use Photoshop to make the gradient a bit more smooth?), then move into a monochromatic color scheme in the body. Carrying a unified color scheme out in the site would help make it more interesting and engaging. Bits of that blue-to-white fade here and there could be nice touches. Maybe as <h2>, <h3>, etc. background items?? Maybe the gray you use should be a bit more blue? I think that would do wonders.

I still think you should change those <hr>s to border-bottom, but that's your decision. I just don't like the way <hr>s look as opposed to the border.

The padding on the right side and left side content is big in IE, but minimal in NS and Opera. Still having trouble with the "Updates" being further from the top nav in NS and with the gap at top and bottom in Opera.

Good work with the font sizes. I feel better now.

And good luck with your essay. I'm an English teacher, so I'm afraid I can't help with the historical aspect. Do watch your verb tense, though! Writing about history can get tricky in that regard. And never, ever, ever forget about MLA formatting (or APA--since it's a social science paper--or whatever your teacher has asked for). Pesky standards exist everywhere!!

Ok:

Header image gradient smoothed out.
Font sizes changed to ems.
Right side column now has some colour.
Footer background changed to match header gradient.

Even better. Now, you can change the shade of blue on the right side to match where the blue fade on the header ends, so it seems like the header faded to a shade of blue that continues down the right side. Then, pick up the footer fade at that shade of blue, which it's close to doing in the footer currently. You see what I mean? That shade of blue doesn't seem right. Try visiting
http://www.easyrgb.com/harmonies.php or http://www.webwhirlers.com/colors/wizard.asp or http://www.colorschemer.com/online.html to find the perfect shade (thanks to mindlesslemming for the links!).

I like that the link in the main content is blue. What about the header tags (h1, h2, etc.)? And still think of changing the nav hover state to a blue, too.

The main content area is missing something. A graphic element background, perhaps? Any logos or anything to be here? Is there a slip of paper that's used to write a perscription at this place? Maybe you can mimick that layout. Or maybe just some ornate, gothic-type corner treatments, sort of like what's here: http://www.cameronmoll.com/? Look in the corners of that site.

My vote is for the blue one. The other colors are just not as nice to look at.

I gotta say I agree with that :p . The pink/purple one sucks, it's just that I didn't have anything to do, and it only takes a couple of minutes to change the colours.
