I ahve windows 2000 pro. While installing, I get an error saying autoexec.nt at system32 folder is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications and asks me to close it! After clicking close, i usuallt get another alert saying "Couldn't find Ame setup" and asks me to go to microsft.com and seek for help!

I'm not abler to get help from them and would be grateful if anyone can help me out. thanx

What does the autoexec.nt file contain (it's a text file)? Something must have altered that file on your system for some reason.

Just make sure you download a new java virtual machine after you get it to install because it will overwrite your existing one with Microsoft's JVM version 4.0 which is just riddled with major security holes. At least it does that if you install Virtual Studio 6, If you have just VB it might not, I don't know but just something to keep an eye out for.

If you have access to another computer running windows 2000, compare the contents of your autoexec.nt and the other computer. Make a back up of your own autoexec then copy the new one to your system32 folder. Restart your PC and then try to install VB. That should do the trick. If you don't have any other PC with win2k, let me know and i'll send mine to you.

Are you sure you don't have it? Check to make sure hidden and system files are being displayed. Anyway, find attached a copy. Hope it solves your problem.
