Beeping PCcodewarrior 08-23-2002, 04:18 AM What does it mean when a PC continously beeps @ you after rebooting?? Mobo or Mem problem, right? stuntboy 08-23-2002, 04:27 AM how many beeps? the number of beeps is the error message http://www.sysopt.com/biosbmc.html codewarrior 08-23-2002, 04:33 AM Beep like forever! :( Its my other machine ... took out everything except mobo and mem. Without mem it doesn't beem ... with it in it does ... I think I've a busted mem thingy! mouse 08-23-2002, 04:55 AM The beep is from the motherboard. Usually one short beep means everythings sweet, dandy, a-okay... you get the idea... there are other combinations of beeps a bit like morse code that tell you what's up. In theory the motherboard manual will have the beep codes in. Some mobo's like mine have a VFD/LCD showing a two digit code which you can then look up and detect the problem. Thejavaman1 08-24-2002, 02:43 AM do you have the manual for the mobo. Most (unless its a POS) has all the codes for those beeps. I love the mobo's that have the built in LCD's (forget which brand) and the MSI's with the d-bracket, because they are so much easier than beep codes... mouse 08-24-2002, 03:20 AM Mine's an Abit one (TH7-IIr) the weird thing is, when everything goes fubar the code is like 19 or 26, looking in the manual neither exist. Mine also has power and restart micro-buttons along side the LCD. Essential for overclocking and dealing with cold boot problems. |
