I hope this isnt considered against the rules of this forum...If it is just delete it...
But back when i was in school i remember doin some Neat stuff over a small LAN like Sending Pup-up messages from my computer to a friends... we were using win 2000 at the time...
I was wondering if there are any neat tricks as such that you can do over a network using win98 and 95.... a co-worker of mine has 95 on his pc and i have 98... i have restricted permision due to a shaddy background.... and he has full access to the network
If you are using any form of Windows, you are wide open to any amount of root exploitations. There are legitamate groups which bring these issues to the public, and sometimes publish exploit code in order to pressure the vendor into producing a fix quicker.
But you won't get any advice on how to crack computers in this forum.
As for sending popup messages, net send is useful in NT, but gets very annoyed if abused. Someone last year decided it would be funny to net send me as fast as he could hit the up arrow and enter. It was quite funny when I busted out a quick Python script which executed net send in an infinite loop to him.... he eventually begged for a forced-exit from the script (CTRL-D or CTRL-C, one or the other...). But that is a script kiddy response to a moron though, and not something very creative, and looking back on it, something I shouldn't have done anyway.

Yeah, net send is pretty useful (though only on NT and 2000). I remember once when I was up at the University of Iowa and I "accidently" did a little net send to the whole entire U of I network. Bad Idea.....

I like reading 2600 (www.2600.com) it has exploits like that. I guess you could say they are "pressuring the vendor". I wouldn't usually do any of the things they talk about in there but they got some cool articles. Like a while back they had a whole thing on building a wooden case, which i've been meaning to build for the hell of it.
