Does anyone know of any good programs to rate and review products on a website? I have a web site and would like people to be able to rate and review the products I sell. I am not listing my site because I don't want it to appear as though I am advertising. Its a template site and I'm not sure what will work with it. I would like something similar to the Amazon rate and review. Any ideas you may have would be great.
Thanks,
Kelly

I think the easiest way to do this is by using php and mysql. What you would need is a script that can call the database and input the users rating into the database. When the have done so, it would show it as a output on the html page.

Thanks for the reply.
The problem with that is I don't have mysql. My database is Microsoft Access.
I don't really know much about this. I am pretty clueless actually. The info above is all I really know and that is obviuosly very little.
Is there a program that can be used with Microsoft Access?

Hi Steve,
What did you do? I know my server supports php, but I don't know what I need to do.

i knew basic html before starting to develop that site. it took me months of learning html, css, php, sql, phtoshop, etc. before i was done.

unfortunately, i don't think there's an easy answer for you. you are going to have to at least learn server side scripting and db or hire out the work...

steve

Hi Steve,
I know some basic html, photoshop and css, but that's about it. I know nothing about php or sql. I don't suppose this would be a cut and paste script huh?? LOL
Thanks

no ma'am, it's 100s if not 1000s of lines of code...and i probably wouldn't part with it for free. ;)

the good news is, all the necessary technology IS free. all it takes is time and initiative....

Is it possible to maintain a separate data base for the review info? If that was a stupid question I apologize, but...
In reply to your post, I know it is alot. I have already looked into a few programs. Magpie was one of them and I wouldn't know where to begin!

sure, you can use multiple dbs. one for your forum, one for your ratings, etc...

Would that make it at least a little easier? My customer db is the access. Its also the db for the products. I can switch the customers over, but I have almost 1000 items and I don't want to have to switch them over
Thanks

Do you offer the type of program I would need. And if so, how much?
