Hello, I am new here as you can probably see.

I used to be proficient in HTML about 2 years ago, however I fell behind and quite for awhile. I'm not sure if people here know about XHTML standards but I am having a bit of trouble with them.

Basically, what I want to do is turn:
http://img61.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img61ℑ=layout4.png

Into a fully functionally layout that utilizes CSS and Divs rather than what I am used to (tables).

Now, before I quit for so long I was dabbling in php, I became rather good at it and have been working with it, mainly (I know this sounds stupid) HTML or rather XHTML is where I am not that good. I have been learning it but I just don't have the full amount of time needed anymore, I'm not even sure how or why I can remember alot of stuff from php (maybe becaus EI spent so long on it) but anyway.

If anyone is REALLY bored and wants to make my day for me, could you possibly turn that SIMPLE layout into one that works, you don't have insert any colors, Ican do the colors in the CSS myself and everything.

If nobody wants to, that's ok too, I'll try to keep at it and I might get it working in a week or so.

Also, that picture is positioned badly and meant to load fast, not actual size, a standard size is fine, you can choose but something about as wide as the picture and centered on the page would be nice. ^_^

Thanx in advance to anyone who helps...

It might just be me, but everytime I open that link, it redirects me to ImageShack's homepage.

/* Edit */

I'm REAALLLYYY bored, but I have other stuff I can do (like work on a two months overdue self-assigned project for my friend). (^_^')

Why not just use that image in an image map? LOL! Just kidding. They are dying out because Flash and Java are taking over. Also, what image is meant to load fast?

canon. basically what this forum is generally used for is: you come and say "heyhey, i want this menu to do a-b-c-d, etc..." people here then either post code to help you, or ask you to post yours so they can modify it, with your help, to get it working for you.

you may not get many people willing to design a complete page for you. for those go to free template sites like http://www.layouts4free.com/template.php?id=7&PHPSESSID=c749122b9432d05bf12eee9d7756d73f (the HTML section)

Hmmm....

The answer to that would be quite obvious if you bothered to read a few posts and there is a good chance that any question that you may have, has been asked and answered before... So feel free to avail yourself of the forums search (http://www.codingforums.com/search.php?) feature...

Welcome to Coding Forums anyway...

You might even try going to StrangeBanana (http://www.strangebanana.com), clicking on "Generator!" and hitting reload a few times to get a design similar to what you want. Then, just copy the code and move the CSS to an external document. I've used that for some inspiration.

At these forums, if you say something along the lines of "Create this page for me," you'll have plenty of chance to hire people for that, myself included. If you say "Look at my code and tell me what I'm doing wrong here!" there will be just as many people willing to help you for free, myself included.

There are lots of CSS layout demos to look at and copy. Here's something that I worked on for another post:
http://scweb.esuhsd.org/projects/test/actify.html
There are some aspects of that page that are similar to what you want, though obviously not the color scheme! Give it a shot and post back with questions. And welcome!

No real offence intended but you don't have a clue. Flash and Java are not "taking over".

I didn't even look at your template but I am going to say that you should try to learn to do it for yourself, it's the only way to learn.

There are many, many, great websites out there that will aid you in learning to create your website the way you want to. Just search these forums and you will oncover a treasure trove of websites.

I would suggest starting at-

www.w3schools.com
www.alistapart.com
www.csszengarden.com
