Mac Os 8

i'm trying to upgrade a machine here at work from OS 8.0 up to at least OS 8.6
i have uploaded OS 8.1, but when i click on the icon, it says html file not found? (the file name is Mac_OS_8.1_Update.smi.bin )
Despite this, i've not even found OS 8.5 (the next i assume in my long line of stuff to download) does 8.5 exist?
i've got the 8.6 update already...

Can anyone help please? (i normally hang around on the javascript and XML forums...)

I had exactly that problem a while ago ... and to be honest with you, I never found the specific solution. Lots of webpages made references to the elusive OS8.5 .. but I never found it either.

In the end ... I bought s/h OS9 from e-bay

MacOs 8.6 is an update for 8.5. 8.5 has to be installed before you can update to 8.6.
You can download the updater, but you can't download MacOs 8.5. You have to find someone with a CD rom.

ok, thats all i wanted to know - OS 8.5 is disc only.

you realise that NO-ONE on the apple forums could tell me anything! all they wanted to do was spout off about OS X Jaguar...:mad:
