Hello, I was thinking about saving my money for an imac instead of a DS lately, but before I do that, I want to know some stuff about the imac.
Like:
Can it run any windows programs in any way?
How much better is it than a PC?
Where is the CD/DVD drive?
Can it run adobe photoshop 7.0?

While I don't use Macs that often, I should be able at least answer your first two questions. You can most likely run Windows programs through Virtual PC, however if the PC version is any indication it works fine except for gaming or anything else that requires a good video card to work well due to limitations in Virtual PC. There might be other ways to run Windows programs but I'm not well versed in Macs.
Your second question is a very subjective question and tough to answer. I probably wouldn't say it is better, probably just different. Now if you wanted to know say for a specific part if it was better than a PC, that is somewhat answer able. Say price for example, ususally computers made by Apple have a significantly lower ammount of bang you get for your buck aka for what you get, you'll have to pay more if it is an Apple versus a PC. That's because there is competition in the PC market that keeps component prices low.

As OracleGuy said, there is VirtualPC, however, you'll have to wait until Version 7 ships for compatibility with the G5 (IBM PowerPC 970). However, there is no graphics card support what so ever.
How much better is it than a PC?
Subject to opinion. I'm going to leave it at that as to avoid a Wintel v. Apple argument...
Where is the CD/DVD drive?
Top of the right hand side, and it's a slot loading one, also, it's a DVD Writer (called SuperDrive by Apple) in the 1.8GHz Models, and a Combo drive in the 1.6GHz Model...
Can it run adobe photoshop 7.0?
Yes, very well, the G5 eats through Photoshop CS.

Can it run adobe photoshop 7.0?Q: Can it run any windows programs in any way?
A: Those that exists on both platforms can mostly be used flawlessly on the Mac. You can often find Mac replacements for those that doesn't. Then there's VirtualPC and bochs that can emulate a PC environment, though some input/output, like hardware accellerated graphics, are not emulated (yet).
Q: How much better is it than a PC?
A: All subjective. You might hate it, you might love it. I find the keyboard commands, a few UI inconsistencies and and the mouse handling a bit awkward, but in general I prefer it to Windows. If you're talking about the hardware, then the G5 is a bit better than a same-speed Athlon64 and a lot better than the corresponding IA32 EM64T Pentium4 processor. The rest is pretty much the same components.
Q: Where is the CD/DVD drive?
A: At the side, slot-loading.
Q: Can it run adobe photoshop 7.0?
A: This is the computer Adobe made Photoshop for - of course it can. (And probably better and faster than the corresponding PC, at that.) You'll have to get the Mac version instead of the PC version though, so you can't just use your old version.

They're right...as much as it pains my to say it - Photoshop on a Mac totally smokes PS running on an similar PC box. (Although for what a G5 costs I'm sure I could build a box that would beat it!)
-For heavens sake though, if you get one - throw the one button mouse straight out the window. Preferably onto a very busy freeway so it can be destroyed for ever.

Ah, that is one thing you have to look out for on the Mac. Very many applications handle multi button mice very poorly. For example, I have a Logitech 4 button mouse, and it has the mouse buttons assigned to system default mouse button 1 through 4. The only thing is, Mozilla Firefox doesn't recognise mouse buttons 1-4, it only recognises mouse button 1 and 2, so the middle buttons don't work like they should.

True, there are somethings about scroll wheels Safari could handle better...

I think you'll be all right... Many flat screen LCDs are built with the same proportions and they're stable enough.
Of course, the new iMac is pretty much a flat-screen LCD entirely. :D

I'll see how stable my 30" Apple Cinema is, when I get it and my PowerMac ;)

Oh, but aren't you gonna attach that screen above your bed and get a cordless keyboard and mouse, so you don't have to get out of bed if you want to check if there's new messages on CF half past four in the morning? That's what I'd do...

Nahhh, I need the USB hub in the keyboard :p Oh David... I'll just check at 3 in the morning... in the school holidays :p
On a side-thought, put up the font size in Safari and read it from bed, and maybe get a wireless mouse to do that :p
