bradyj 09-05-2004, 02:16 AM Five minutes worth of time will get you:)... seriously, I'd rather do something simple like this for you, and as a trade off, you just offer me a site link or something.
Warren Contrera 09-06-2004, 01:58 AM Just might trigger some thought.
trib4lmaniac 09-06-2004, 11:42 AM Hows about something like one of these...

You taking off from my idea a bit? :D
trib4lmaniac 09-07-2004, 09:51 AM I liked the L pushed up against the D like that, very nice. If the color is the same I'm sorry, it's the adobe red I used :D (grey is just everywhere)

:)
bradyj 09-10-2004, 05:16 PM Wow for ASAP, we're not getting too many responses -- this is not worth the effort then with little response from the original poster -- I've removed my version then, hope you find something!
simpl3nick 09-11-2004, 12:38 PM have fun doing with Photoshop
:P
bradyj 09-16-2004, 07:16 AM Hey kid, you gonna respond to any of these? Not that it matters, but I'm starting to think I'm going to see one of these guys logos up on your site without you telling them - which would not help your business image just starting out... or, if you have decided, closing the thread would be nice so no one else spends more of time.
Mhtml 09-16-2004, 11:11 AM I've been talking with him outside of this forum, he hasn't decided yet.
simpl3nick 09-21-2004, 07:08 AM so simpl3 ....
:) please, send your comments to improve my made for the future ! thanks
Mhtml 09-21-2004, 07:50 AM Well, logos should look just as good in black and white as in color. The shadow effect on the text in the first one, just imagine that after a few photocopies of a fax! Same goes for that odd graident effect in the last one, it really doesn't add to the clarity or the overall effect near as I can tell.
The ones which he liked of mine were -
www.mithoric.com/redline1.jpg
www.mithoric.com/redline2.jpg
Although he requested modifications on that second one to see if he liked it, and well he hasn't replied (that was more than a week ago) after I sent him a modified version.
I figure he might have given up on the idea possibly.
MatesOnline 09-29-2004, 03:20 AM Hi everyone..
sorry i havent replied sooner but have been trying to juggle about 7 different things over the last few weeks so my life has been a bit hectic.
I am still looking for a logo but the problem im having is trying to decide exactly what it is about th elogos submitted that i feel could look better.
the logo's you guys have submitted are great but im not much of a critic and find it hard to work out exactly what i dont like.. silly huh lol
im sorry if you guys feel that it has been a waste of time you posting i assure you it hasnt been.
i can now boost the money up to $75 for the logo i use .. the logo must grab my attention and look professional
i am having numerous problems with my solicitor at the moment with a load of paperwork he is trying to get me to complete so i apologise if i cant reply to the forum frequently .
the moment i see a logo i love i will contact the person immediatly via IM
so this thread doesnt drag on and on i would like to set a closing date of 5th october for submissions
good luck
thanks guys for your patience

Reputable designers are available for hire. When they submit samples of past work, it is with the expectation of a contractual agreement. This is a logo contest, not a legitimate business solicitation.

Agreed -- I posted up a quick one originally just as a favor and I should have emphasized that more, thanks James :), I'm gonna' emphasize on that -- but this is what we term in the industry 'No Comps first'. Why? Some examples that have happend to me and other designers:
1. I do a design, I don't get the project, I see a similar design (if not the exact same thing) from the clients other designer. An example would be some of the play-offs from the post of my original logo -- but that's minor, it can and does get worse, and it's happened to me with large designs. Would you really spend time and money prosecuting someone or blacklisting someone who stole your work... would the pay off be worth it in commercial gains and the attitude that will come with it?
2. You spend 8 hours doing a design only to not get the job. What have you gained? This becomes even more drastic for companies that what to bid for a job, hire on artists to come up with great ideas, don't get the job and have to lay everyone off. Common problem in the industry, and why many design firms fail.
If a client can't gauge your talent by your previous work, then they probably aren't an experienced and professional client. You don't know them, is it worth that trust?
MatesOnline 09-29-2004, 12:39 PM ok seeing as bradyj and jamescover seem not to like this too much i will look elsewhere
please close thread

Nice MatesOnline -- just because we don't want to play by what you're rules are you just want to stop? This isn't meant to be rude, but the point of our post was to explain how it's usually done, did you even read them and understand what we were saying?
MatesOnline 09-30-2004, 01:06 PM yes i did. and my response wasnt meant to be agressive ( or however it seemed )
i dont have time to spend hours trawling the net looking for freelance designers thats why i posted here because besides various legal sites this is the only site i visit in my busy day.
