View Full Version : Integrated Video Card

I recently set up a wireless network in my home, and after many many hours on the phone to d-link I gave up on their tech-support line, and was told to format my PC as they had done more harm than good. I made backups etc, and formatted.

When it came to re-installing windows XP home, it appeared that I needed a license key, which I do not have, because the computer was not sold with one.

With this, I decided on getting XP Pro and installed that instead. Due to the fact that I have integrated sound and video cards (yeah, yeah, i know) and the drivers, I assume, are on the XP home reboot CD, my screen resolution is stuck at 640 x 480, and I cannot watch video or listen to audio.

What should I do? Is there any way I can retrieve my license key or drivers? I have already gotten an installer from driverguide.com, but I am told I cannot install it.

Perhaps I would have to get a new video/sound card?

Thanks for reading, any help HUGELY appreciated

do you know what your hardware is, as google it, my scanner driver is not compatable with XP due to the installation proceedure, but there was an unofficial un supported hack.

Most systems running XP home come with a "Recovery CD" which you can boot from and by following a few simple steps end up with your system set up exactly the same as when you first bought it. The missing "License key" should be on a sticker attched to your computer (inside, backside, bottom side, hiding under a panel) though it was still shrinkwrapped with the MS booklet in a system I recently dealt with.
