Nono. not that advanced. We're talking "bits of meaningless test data flowed silently between the two computers" (it's almost poetic :))

ah right just read an article off gogle news. i thought that the inital connection bewteen two computers was in the late 50s. but the HTTP protocol (or the "World Wide Web" for your average computer user) was only developed 10 years ago

I think it was closer to 15 years ago. Early 90's wasn't it?

yep, sorry, HTTP was written in 1991. in 1993 the NCSA put out the first version of MOSAIC. then some people quit the NCSA and created netscape.
