tabular data control

a web application i have to use has been developed using MS tabular data control activex control.
no one knows which browser, different from IE, and under what OS is able to fully work with this technology?
i'd prefer under linux...
is there a way to work around the problem?
my tests are quite a failure till now.

I'm pretty sure ActiveX will only work with Internet Explorer.
