Hmm...I have a similar model. Its a combo scanner, fax, copier, and printer. Another person I know has a similar model as well...both stopped working a few weeks ago.

Everyone in my class at school seems to have problems with thier HP printers too (although this might just be an excuse for not having homework).

I thought HP was supposed to be one of the leading printer manufacturers,but...

Quite frankly, Im not sure if your problem is the problem Im having. Maybe you could give some more details?

Ok, well my computer started off with windows home edition, but i installed xp pro on it, and thats when it stopped working, i wish i'd had the cd, but i dont know why the driver i dl'd from hp.com does not work, i get to the very last part where it says "checking computer for printer connection" or something like that, it says it only takes several minutes but i waited like over 20 mins for it.. i have another computer, but this printer has never been used before and i dont want to scrap it, but i will if i cant get it to work before school starts (1 week), so any help is greatly needed.

is your printer USB connected or parallel??

quite likely it is a driver issue. The issue being that winXP doesnt like the old driver.

If you go into the system control panel (right click on my computer, then select properties) -> device manager you should see your printer listed. right click on it, then select properties. you are looking for the "update driver" option. click this. when it prompts you select the location as "microsoft windows update" and see if it gives you anything
