Two screen setup??

yep i think so. i saw a firend comp which had dual screens (he uses it for video editing,) *drool* and he could drag windows off to one side or another. he hada top of the line GRFX too. I don't see any other way that windows would want to display a 8:3 resolution unless the grfx card asked it to

EDIT: the second example isnt very typical (if you look at the bottom, theres an ash tray with a 'weird cigarette' in it, which could explain why :D)

if you dont have agp... support then.. get a pci with dual monitor support.

Yes you can drag stuff accross the monitors.. and do all kinds of neat stuff...

I know =-) , because I have a dual monitor set up.

Most games dont support dual monitors though so... yeah.

I know someone who had 4 screens, I think they had 2 dual graphics cards...

I use them for all kinds of stuff....

Graphical work, browsing the net, researching.. and writting at the same time,... playing videos on one.. and doing work on the other... so many things. It just gives you more space to do things... =-/ I would hate to go back to a single monitor set up.

You can have more than 4 screens.... I cant remember what the max xp supports...

At work I had dual monitors, I had two video cards in the system and I used it so I could alt-tab through my 5 or so remote desktop connections on the second monitor and still use my primary system on the main monitor. Or I'd use it to look at web pages I was working on so I could look at the results and still have the code on the main monitor.

The only limit to how many monitors you can have is the limit your operating system places and how many video cards you can physically put in your system.

All you need to do is buy some PCI graphics cards (1 per monitor, unless you can find one with multiple outputs). The use Windows xp to support up to 8 :eek: monitors. I have 2 monitors now, using 1 AGP card. You will only have up to 1 AGP slot, so doing multiple monitors for cheap means buying some PCI cards...also on newegg.com

To act as one screen, you mean in your 20x20 grand scheme? I am sure someone out there has developed drivers to make that happen, but why dont you save the money for a little while and just buy a giant hdtv plasma screen or even a projector? If you're serious about this, that is...

Otherwise, with the PCI card idea, you could have 8 desktops, or the same thing on 8 screens, whichever you prefer.

Windows 98 and above automatically support two monitors. All you need is dual video cards or a multiple input video card.

Would the drivers be able to do this as standard or would I need to get hold of some special drivers?

You sure can! All you have to do is tell windows what screen you want to be primary, adjust the resolution, and make the two monitors function as one. Do an internet search on dual monitors and you'll see how simple it is...
