Basically I just need a free downloadable linux distro to install PHP 4, MySQL 4, and Apache 2 on, I'm not afraid of the command line if it matters ;)

Mandrake 10 is free. And it comes with PHP, Perl, Apache, Mysql. You can choose to install them when/after installing Mandrake. Or, I suppose if you really wanted to, you could install them manually (e.g. download from the net).
I've been using Mandrake for some time, and find it a very nice system. Easy to install, configure, and use.

Go to the site's main page. There should be a "Download" link in there somewhere. Click that link. You should get a page saying something about registering in the Mandrake club. I remember this took me a little while to figure out: you have to click the link/button indicating that you are already a member or plan to become one soon. Or something like that. The other option would probably take you to a registration page.
Anyway, by taking the correct option, you should reach a page where you can download from different mirrors.

Mandrake is very user friendly. I am fully satisfied with debian woody. There is a very good guide at aboutdebian.com which walks you through installing everything. Or you can just use apt-get install and be done with it. :D

Mandrake is very user friendly.
I've noticed that too. I like it; it was easy to install, configure, and use. I can't say anything about other distributions, not having used any others than Mandrake.
I really should start tinkering around in Mandrake some more...I haven't done much with it yet, other than trying out the included games! :p
But I'd sometime like to tery doing some programming in Mandrake using KDevelop and see how that goes.
