I have a Windows 98 computer where all of a sudden, when playing Solitaire, everything freezes. CTRL-ALT-DEL has no effect. Nothing works but the Reset button (on computer).

I saw this on another computer and fixed it, but forgot how. I thought it had to do with a McAfee update but ... I have uninstalled McAfee (replaced it with AVG). I have run AVG and Spybot on the computer and both give a clean report. Scandisk gives a clean report.

I uninstalled the Games portion of Windows, rebooted and re-installed, but it still happens. The game will play for a short period of time - 1 to 5 moves - and then it will freeze in mid-move.

Everything I have found online (microsoft.com and others) begins with symptoms I don't have, mainly an actual error message.

Please help!

Since you're describing a problem that happens related to a video driven action I'd guess that the video system is a likely source for the problem. Check with the vendor of the video card in your computer and get the latest driver for your video card or if you're already running the latest driver back up a version.
