I have a Windows 98 computer where all of a sudden, when playing Solitaire, everything freezes. CTRL-ALT-DEL has no effect. Nothing works but the Reset button (on computer).
I saw this on another computer and fixed it, but forgot how. I thought it had to do with a McAfee update but ... I have uninstalled McAfee (replaced it with AVG). I have run AVG and Spybot on the computer and both give a clean report. Scandisk gives a clean report.
I uninstalled the Games portion of Windows, rebooted and re-installed, but it still happens. The game will play for a short period of time - 1 to 5 moves - and then it will freeze in mid-move.
Everything I have found online (microsoft.com and others) begins with symptoms I don't have, mainly an actual error message.
Please help!
