I need some practice on this so i'm offering 3 free site templates. I'd offer to do the graphics too but i'm not a designer. If I'm feeling extra generous i might even work from a sketch but I'm sorry i just cant work straight from scratch.

Basically I'm offering to take an image you send me - preferrably layered but i can work off a flattened one - into a semanticly valid XHTML document styled to resemble the image in all major browsers with CSS.

Email me using forum address if your interested, I cant promise first 3 will be accepted as I'll have to see what the job looks like.

My skills:
XHTML 1.1: proficient (cant realy be highly proficient in plain xhtml)
CSS 2: highly proficient
Javascript: proficient(not overly fancy DHTML tho)
PHP: highly proficient (not really relevant to this offer)
MySQL: proficient (as PHP, not really relevant)

I'd try approaching non-profit organisations: local sports clubs, voluntary organisations etc. Many of these type's of orgs would be more than happy with something similar to http://readmetoo.co.uk and they may already have printed publicity materials that'll give you clues for any graphics you need to do.

In the mean time, I could really do with some help! I'm currently developing a site for a local nature reserve in Lancashire (I'm doing the site for free, though they have got funding for hosting etc.)

Thing is, I promised them a cms for at least one of the pages, the site has taken too long already because I've had to fit it in around paid work, family duties etc. Plus I'm starting a full time salaried job next week, so I'm really not going to have time to be learning how to install and set up a cms, even though I'd really like to!

I have the basic xhtml-strict template set up already and I can provide you with the PSDs too.

If you'd like to have a go at it, it could be a good little project for you, and something for your portfolio, And I will credit you and link you for your contribution.

I was thinking of doing it all in wordpress, but maybe just one page with cms would be ok. I'm not sure how involved it all is really?

Anyway I'd really appreciate it if you were willing to help out, and it's for a good cause too :)

Please post reply or email me: creative@graft.biz for further info.

Kindest regards,

Gary

Yes please, if you fancy the job? Like I said I've already set the basic xhtml-css template up, though if you want the practice I can just send you the PSD doc and you can start over with it, though that might be a bit like re-inventing the wheel maybe.

Original intention was to use wordpress, but I just haven't had time to suss it out, what with learning xhtml-css and working hard to break old habits!

If not the entire site then maybe just one page, though a full cms would be nice.

Basic template is at http://foxhill-bank.org.uk/newindex.html

Credit will be given, on each page if necessary. The site is going to get a fair bit of exposure: There is going to be a press release to the local media, links from the lancashire wildlife trust site, from various local Council Leisure websites so you'll be able to get quite a lot of exposure/linkage if you want to have a bash?
