Hey All,

I've been out of the domain name registration loop for awhile, but I've just stumbled onto sites like www.registerfly.com and www.godaddy.com, which offer domain name registration much cheaper than www.register.com (who I had used in the past).

Is there anything I should be aware of? The price difference is $35 versus around $8 for a one year domain renewal. I don't know why I didn't see this before, but I wanted to make sure there wasn't some fine print I wasn't reading. :)

Thanks.

I've transferred dozens of domains to Godaddy. What do you want to know?

Any problems? Lag time in transferring? Ever any instances of difficulty with the previous company initiating the transfer?

We transferred register.com to dotster.com (my preffered registrar) and they transferred everything beautifully -- though they hassled me with phone calls and emails asking me why I wanted to switch, it was painless othewise. Just make sure when you transfer that you put in your nameservers right in the process so it's seamless.

I've used GoDaddy before as well and haven't had any problems.

I've never had any problems in the transfer process which usually just takes anywhere from a few days to a week. Depends on how fast your previous registrar is in getting the ball rolling once the request has been sent to them from godaddy.
