I'm very interested in learning PHP and MySQL to help beef up my sites. Would you guys suggest learning PHP before MySQL? MySQL before PHP? Both at the same time?
Anyways, do you guys have any recommendations for sites or books that really simplify these 2 elements and explain what they are doing?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks

You cannot learn MySQL, as it is a database, however, you can learn SQL, which allows you to command MySQL, however, PHP is far more useful, and you should learn it first, once you get onto interaction with MySQL, you can then learn SQL.

Thanks for the response. I'm about 50 pages into a PHP book and I'm starting to see MySQL a lot and I honestly don't have a clue as to what is happening betweend the two.
Well, maybe I do but I think I'm over-complicating things.
As I like to learn from example, I'd like to build a simple table with phpMyadmin, then write a php script to pull the info into usable html on my site. I feel like I'm still years away from this and getting very frustrated.
Any words of encouragement?

I learned PHP first then SQL... both took me about a month and SQL is probably easier but not very useful unless you know a language that can execute it or w/e such as PHP.. ;)
