Hi! Any help would be greatly appreciated as I don't even know how to approach this. I work for a Verizon Service Provider (Authorized Dealer). To run credit for our customers, we have to use our Master Agent's Website but my boss does not like doing this. Why? Because everywhere in this website there are "Become an Agent!!!" ads and my boss is paranoid that the employees will see this and contact this company and then leave us. It's happened a only once but I guess I can see where he is coming from. So here is what he wants me to do. Using OUR website, he wants me to find a way to LINK to the Master Agent's Website at the point where we input the information to run credit. This is good since once you get to this page, there are no more "Become an Agent!!!" ads. However, to get to this point, you of course need a password. How can I go about this? How can I link directly to this part of the website, bypassing the main page where the password is inputed and the ads are? I have tried the h t t p ://username:password@website.com but it does not work. I guess an easier way to do this (which I don't know how to do either) would be to open the Master Agent's Website in a new window, but using DHTML to maybe put a layer of solid color over the stuff we don't want employees to see. Kind of like a solid layer with cutouts over the parts we want them to see...or something like that! Any help would be greatly appreciated. I need this bad and I'm willing to reward anyone who helps me with some Cell Phone accessories. I can pretty much get most any accessories for just about any phone for free or super duper cheap! when you link into the "final" area, check the URL in the address part of your browser. sometimes the information is passed in that fashion...
http://www.somesite.com/somepage.php?variable=1
that may be a way to get through.

if not, the info might be being passed through a POST rather than GET command, so it is hidden. we would have to see the pre-page to see how the information is input and sent. thus a solution may be found in that direction.

Actually I'm wondering if this request doesn't fall outside of the Terms of Service for using that web site. If so, you shouldn't be asking this question here, please check and make sure that your request isn't one that'll break a contract before continuing.

It isn't. I have talked to our rep and to their IT department and were told we could do whatever we wanted. In fact, it was them that suggested we find a way to do this. Why didn't I talk to the IT people? Quite frankly, because they don't know what they are doing. The website was created by someone outside. I've tried talking to do them about it but they don't sound like they know what they are talking about.

What if you try imitating the login script for the site on your website, and then pass the information to them?

The key might be in handling the post a little diffrently than in their site, for example

I tried to test this, but without a correct username and password I cannot see if it will allow it, however, it did pass the variables for the username and tell me that it was an invalid password...

however, the password being invalid, the loginpage with the ads showed up.

I'm sorry I can't help you more than this, however its worth a shot.

Thanks Psychoman. That way you told me it works just fine. I put my username and password and it takes me past the ads. I guess this will do for now although anyone can click on the company logo and such and go back to the main page, but this will certainly reduce the visibility of the ads. Besides, most of the workers aren't too bright with computers! Thanks! Psychoman, send me a message or something and I'll hook you up with some cell phone accessories if you wish...

As a friendly reminder, always put your code in code brackets Like:

Thanks for the reminder,

I normally do use them, In this case though I wanted to highlight the diffrence in the codes using the color green. I was unaware that it would cause problems with the indexing though, I'll keep that in mind next time.

Oh you don't sell Mobile minutes? I have a prepaid service. I didnt expect you to be able to add minutes to my account. Anyways, if you can't do that then its fine, I just thought you could get one of those scratch of cards and email me the pin# But no worries. If you sell plans though, I may look you up in a couple of weeks since I need one. (id' buy it of course, not expecting it for free)
