W00t. Looks like the next version of IE might not suck. Though there's some speculation as to whether or not they'll bother fixing standards support because it's just not a very marketable feature. Ha.

Let's hope they don't blow it.

Methinks the notion of development being whimsically driven by user requests is unsettling, as is ambiguity over support for standards.

"The truth is that consumers aren't going to worry about things like CSS and PNG support," said Robert Iliad, a developer who is participating in the feedback process. "There are still millions of consumers using IE 5.5, so how are you going to get them to use IE 7.0 just because of some obscure thing called CSS?"

Consumers never care... but businesses do, and I'd think that business consumers would be a huge microsoft chunk... unless we all switch to Linux or Mac right now, who's with me? :D

Hopefully Microsoft's smart enough to realize that the developers know just as well what's best for consumers. Things like tabbed browsing and such are probably not going to be suggested by developers, but MS is hopefully smart enough to include a balance of both.

I'd imagine the IE dev is somewhat biased towards what goes in too... I'd bet they're looking forward to better standards implementation too.
