Hey all,
I've been absent from CF for a few weeks due to 2 things:
1. Moving house - dealing with 56K.. :(
2. Finishing my journal/folio site :D
Check it out, please let me know if it bugs out on your browser ;)
http://leftjustified.net/
The content is almost non-existant atm, I'm still writing up the folio entries.

I think it looks very nice, but for a nice "touch" you should right justify the entire thing! :D

I thought about that, but the verticals planks of wood are the <body> bg, and not even Mozilla displays it correctly when I use position:relative; on the body and try and move it around :(
I did have someone ask me if it's all meant to be over to the left though... :p
According to my stats, I've had 60 unique IP hits in the first 12 hours. I'm happy with that :D

I saw this by clicking in your sig on some other post. It is very pretty. If I'd change something, it'd be the fonts for your header and menu. They don't seem to fit in. The header one most of all. I've also read recently that left sidebars distract from right-side content (which is why it's not often seen in print) but I see it all the time and it never bothered me. I discovered this after designing my site, which I'd actually made with a right sidebar (thought I was being different, heh)
Bugs:
http://www.offtone.com/temp.lj.ff.jpg <-- Looks fine in Firefox
http://www.offtone.com/temp.lj.ie.jpg <-- The menu goes a bit weird... Skip to nav is missing, and for some reason the bullet disappears on the sidebar title.
Edit: Those are the renders from the latest versions of each browser, by the way.

Thanks Aaron  (nice site, btw ;))
Fonts are weird like that, it's such an individual preference whether they 'work' or not. Everything was very broken in IE when you looked at it because I had just added a bg img to all <dt>'s, screwing up the weather good and proper

Hmm..Don't know why skip nav would vanish... The sidebar bullet issue is IE doin' its thang. It's crappy, crappy thang.
IE also does something crazy with the clock icons on the comments. It's placing the icon beneath the comment, even though the <dd> that contains the icon is in the regular page flow

Looks great -- your photoshop skills are showing young jedi -- I love the style and the feel -- designers are going to notice you spent some excellent time on it doing the little things
Works excellent in all mac browsers... also, remember you can abuse the text-shadow CSS for us safari users if you need :D

YES! Sweeeet Brady, that's exactly what I wanted to hear
Guess how much mac testing I did?
ZERO! :eek:hehehee...

173 Layers, a 93MB original mock-up and 121MB of full-res sliced images...But who's counting ;)
P.S - Thanks for your guidence, Obi-Won, but I'll leave the text-shadows to the pros :p

But it's so elegant, yet so simple:
text-shadow: 2px 2px 3px gray;
right bottom blur color :D support the design community mindlessLemming, fall to the dark side.

Not so fast... it breaks in IE Mac. Admittedly, though, so do all of my sites :)

DOH! To be honest, I was very surprised at the notion of it working in IE 5.2...IE Mac isn't being fed any hacks, so it's been left to its own devices :o

It is awsome, of coarse I expect nothing less from you. I actually read through everything instead of just looking out! Keep up the good work, your like my idol in webdesign. But my all time favorite line of code is this one:
<!--This span is purely decoration, I know that means I'm going straight to hell. Deal with it ;)-->

Wow, I'm honoured :o Seriously though, I'm definetly nothin' special! I just haven't had a life for the last 8 months or so while learning this whole 'CSS thang' ;)
I'm glad someone appreciated that line... I knew there'ld be code sniffers going through my stuff eventually :D
@Brady Can you please check out http://leftjustified.net/template.html and maybe grab me a little screeny of that text-shadowed content header?
I figure it's worth a try ;)

Whoops, he's right -- I didn't even test in it -- it's the box model... I care little for Mac IE, and many mac users agree.
that text shadows not going to work too well, you just shifted it 1px right 1px down and blurred it by a pixel... hence, that mixed with the color, you don't see a darn thing!

Dang...
I was aiming for subtlety..
iCapture has been down for a few days, so I'll just wait until I'm next at a mate's house who owns a mac
