I have just updated the bios on my asus k8v - deluxe with the update program that came on the cd, followed all instructions and half way through the power in our street went out.
i now have an athlon 64 3400+ that will not turn on. multiple uni assignments due. is there any way at all that i am able to fully reset the bios to the one that came with my mobo?
please note that when i turn my pc on all it says is "no video output" doesnt sound like the mobo kicks over as the hdd doesnt start up.
any help would be very usefull. thankyou
[hope this is the right forum]

dude.....that is quite possibly some of the worst timing I've ever heard of.
Hark! Thou could be in luck! It sounds firstly as though tis your power supply that is faulting at present, and not ye mobo! Uhm...of course..it *could* be the motherboard..but betting on a bad power supply sounds like a possibility at the moment. If you have another machine, check the powersupply.
Is the ps fan turning on?
You can jump the ps to check and see if it is still working...(at least I'm told...here's a quote) :
I remembered how to test the power supply, so I found a paper clip and disconnected the power supply from the motherboard. Jumping the power supply (bend a paper clip and insert one prong into the lead for the green wire, and one prong into the lead for the black wire next to it) shows that the power supply will run as long as it's jumped. Ergo, the problem must be with the motherboard somehow.
In the event it *is* your bios..you'll have to send the motherboard back to the manufacturer *sob*.

yes all my pretty neon fans light up. power supply is fine. mobo light comes on.
sigh, u mean ill have to send my motherboard back to asus? odear. u sure there isnt a way to say pop the bios chip out, load it into another motherboard and then say reload the bios after the comp has started up with old bios chip?
mmmm dun really wanna have to wait 5 months for the asus team in taiwan to send me back the same chip i send over that probly still wont work.

IF the BIOS chip is removable AND you (or a buddy) has a EEPROM burner with adapters to match the particular EEPROM that's on your motherboard then you can probably fix this yourself. I'd bet though that you don't have a EEPROM burner (mine cost me $800 US) so your best bet is getting the MFG to fix it for you. Call them and ask how best to get it to happen quickly, it may be possible for you to overnight it to them and have them fix it and overnight it back to you so you're only down a few days instead of for weeks.
If it looks like it may be weeks, I'd invest in a new board AND a UPS system.

On the same subject, Gigabyte makes their motherboards with dual bioses so you can prevent this exact problem and in case you want to revert back to an old version easily.

I had a similar problem with mine a while back, I ended up scratching the mobo and getting a new one. Good luck
