Which Shopping Cart

Please could someone tell me of a powerfull, quite easy to install and good value shopping system along the lines of www.commerce-cgi.com.

And how is a php based solution better than a cgi based commerce system.

PHP has object-oriented syntax (along with procedural). Not sure PERL offers both. If it doesn't, that's probably one of the reasons for it.

PHP is also somewhat easier to grasp, and I find it much easier to read, too.

With oscommerce.com can you have news sections etc, along with the shop. Or is it completely shop based.
