i was using abriasofts, apache, php, mysql install... but,,, kept having problems,,, and didnt have as many of the extras like phpdev5 has... i have installed on window ME, and on a 700 mhz, with 128 mb ram.

I took out the phpwebsite , because i like my own look and feel... and developing my own index pages,,,

thanks.

just dont understand....

has apache_asp, and i dont understand how to use it...
mainly where to place the asp files, and how to pull them up on a page for visitors to see...

abriasoft had the apache window stay on the task bar, and mysql, i used from abriasoft, cuz it seemed the download didnt install everything for it... but looks like i can upgrade to new versions easily...

thanks, cuz now i have a cool server, that lets me do more...instead of what it will let me do... thanks..

I appologize for posting this here, but didnt know where else to post it...

You can post it here. However firepages will be the one that would need to answer as he is the one who created phpdev. :)

Glad its of use !

apache::asp wont work unless you get the mod_perl addon which I am not releasing until I have got the basics of phpdev5 stable, you are lucky on ME for dev5 to have worked at all as the install seems to have a few issues with 98/ME though I know it has worked for some....

apache::asp is a PERL thing and is really nothing like ASP at all though you can embed your PERL in your HTML pages with it as with embperl and Mason which might also find their way into the dev5 stable release.

anyway stick to PHP ;) beats pants outa PERL any day :)

i find it great, but has too much too it... like in abriasofts, it has everything in the main folder, and the htdocs, is still where the main pages go... but the only thing i found that abriasoft dont have, with their merlin server, php, apache, mysql install, is that the php dont have GD, and some other things installed... and wish to have an istaller exactly like that with GD. Thats preaty much it... Your phpdev is the only one ive found that had the GD for php in the install...and you cant get the help with abriasofts unless you pay alot of money... pear is another thing, i understand its already in php, but wish it was 100% ready to go too...lol... that is all i feal that needs to be in a server installer,,,

apache, php (with GD), mysql, phpmyadmin, and pear, as soon as it is installed, all programs are 100% ready to use, even pear....

and liked how my apache dos window didnt stay open, it automaticly closed, but stayed running... only problem i had was getting php to send mail, couldnt find my mail server... but great job all the same...

Thanks
