View Full Version : Apologies!

May I please take this opportunity to apologise to the moderator and members for the cross posting of the topic below.

In my ignorance and impatience, I 'jumped in' without reading the rules of the conference and appear to have caused offence and frustration and anger to many.

As you may see from the message which I posted (below), I could not post in the correct forum as I didnt (and still dont!) know exactly which topic my problem came under. I have asked other so called experts, but they all seem to differ in their opinions.

Anyway, apologies again and I now consider my knuckles to be well and truly (deservedly) rapped!

(PS, I came across this forum by chance after posting a similar message and being advised to look here.)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm looking for a method for a band (whose site I am currently designing) to update on a daily basis, a list of venues at which they will be playing.

None of the band members have any Web Authoring programs (nor would they know how to use they!), but they do have access to the Net. I was hoping that they could somehow log onto their site and update / edit the site through IE. I dont know if that is possible, but it would be extremely usefull.

I am designing another site for a weighlifting club also, and would like them to use a similar facility to update their venues.

All help & advice to stephencordner@onet.co.uk appreciated.

Stephen

You'd need a serverside language. PHP, ASP, etc. I think the one in the PHP forum was left open

Hi Stephen,

No worries, everything has been taken care of now :). In the event that you have a question that you are unsure of where to place, place it where you think it belongs. If it happens to be the wrong forum a moderator will move your thread to the appropriate forum for you.

As Nightfire mentioned, I did leave the instance of your thread in the PHP forum open: http://www.codingforums.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=4087 .

The ultimate goal is to avoid cross-posting from occuring in the first place (which is why it's covered in the posting rules and guidelines everyone has to agree to when registering). That way there would be no closed threads, confusion, wasted time, frustration, etc. and no need for apologies :).

Thanks Boxer

Just one question if I may please..........

If you have kindly left 1 instance of my post in the PHP forum, does this mean that you think the answer to my post lies with PHP as opposed to a solution that may be found in the other forum's?

Many thanks

Stephen

As it's left open in the php forum, that is the best place Boxer thought your post belonged :)

I believe, as Nightfire mentioned before, you're going to need something server-side and PHP is probably about as good an option as any, so that's where I left your thread open. One of the forums you didn't post your question in was "Other server side languages / issues", which would have been a relevant forum. Had you posted to that forum I would have left that one open, but don't go post there now...lol. Just leave it in the PHP forum where there is likely to be a solution. If not, one of the Moderators of the PHP forum will move it if they feel it is necessary ;). PHP & MySQL would probably hold a solution for you, but would also require some work to set it up and you'd need a host who supports it as well.

At any rate, the purpose of this thread was simply so you could post an apology. You did and all is well. There is no further reason for this thread to remain open so I'm closing it. Good luck ;).
