What is everyones opinions on the best monitor? I have always used a CRT but I am looking to get a dual set up and am not sure what is the best. I have read that LCD monitors do not display colors properly and if that is true than I can not use it. I heard the other day about some kind of organic display but I do not think those are out yet.

Thanks for any comments............

depends on what you plan on doing. :)

If desk space is an issue, then flat-panel LCD is the obvious choice.

LCD's are best for text - much clearer and crisper.
CRT's are best for graphics, as they show truer color, are capable of higher screen res's, and are cheaper ;)

If you go with LCD, get a digital.
If you go with a CRT, get a flat-screen aperture grille monitor. A shadow mask monitor isn't quite as good.

:)

I prefer crts.

TFT's rock, they look better, they're softer on the eyes and most importantly to - well me anyway - they take up little room; a 19" crt is standard equipment these days but they take up half a room.

I need something for graphics so I am leaning more towards digital LCD.... a very important question , Will games like Quake 3 be choppy on a digital LCD monitor?

Depends on the quality of both your monitor and graphics card.

If your lcd requires a high resolution - which isn't changeable on LCDs btw - such as 1280x1024 then you may need a whopping gfx card to provide enough fps to be playable.

there are a few very good shadow masks out there but they are hard to find. Some people like them more than AG's because they don't have the two black lines that all AG monitors have.

From what I have heard the best CRT's use the dimatron (sp) tubes from mitusibushi (sp). But I also like Samsung Dynaflats and the Natural Flats, which are very high quality (.20 mm dot size for one of them)

Pffft, just go grab a $700 15" plasma screen. I was playing Quake 3 on one the other day, it was glare-free and very nice ;).
