Why Microsoft fax not with proxy connection

Is there any way to make Microsoft fax work with Proxy type of connection?
Or any free fax application is there which will work in proxy type of internet connection?

I am not sure how Microsoft Fax works, but is there some sort of option that you can check so it will use Internet Explorer's settings?
