Is this someform of javascript in HTML?

I'm trying to decode a webpage, and somethings have come up
that don't make sense.. but don't seem to affect the functionality
of the page either.

1. I have a <td..> line that starts <!--td.....> What is the
"!--" ?

2. I see a bunch of <br /> and a few others that have a "/"
prior to the ending ">" of the prefix tag. as well as an <image
tag, and <input tag. Are they just ignored?

In looking at the code closer, I'm thinking they left the old form in
in the form of comments <!-- .... --> either that or to make decoding
the page more difficult.

But I still don't get the extra "/" in the prefix.

the extra forward slash is for proper XHTML validation. XHTML requires empty tags to be closed with a forward slash. :thumbsup:

Something like

<!-- .... -->

is something that has been commented out
