I am interested in creating a custom toolbar for IE, similar to the Google toolbar. I realize there are apps that will make you a toolbar with your pre-defined settings, but I'm interested in learning and making one from scratch. I don't know where to start though.
First question:
What language would one use? After doing some research, it looks like VB may be the way to go, or am I off-step on this?
With the language sorted out, I can refine my search a little bit better. Thanks in advance for any tips.

I asked a while back and came up a little empty handed. All that I could surmise from endless searching was that you would need to use some form of the C programming language and some subsets of it. I'd highly recommend constructing a toolbar for a Gecko engined browser since there is tons of documentation and tutorials for just the thing. When I speak of Gecko, I'm referring to Netscape and Mozilla browsers. If you're still interested in the IE toolbar, try googling the topic or possibly contacting a company that makes them for some ideas.

As a generalisation information about adding onto MS Products is hard to get. It is sometimes in the MSDN libary and other forms exist but these are mainly extracts from the MSDN.
I always find the MSDN libary confusing and difficult to understand.

I think that Mhtml mentioned that a site search with google would provide better search results than a msdn search. Try site:msdn.microsoft.com if you decide to go that route.

Yeah that sounds like something I'd say, google has indexed it all pretty much and works a treat.. :)
Anywho I have not made or researched making such a thing but I think you may want to be looking at what M$ call a 'Desktop Band' I think.
