Dead Tower

Ok i was sitting on my computer one day and all of a sudden...the tower shut off, :eek: nothign else just the tower, and it was blinking on and off an orange color so i wnet down and turned off the circuit breaker and turned it back on,...it worked for a couple of days and did it agian then i did the same thing but now it wont turn on at all!what do i do please help me!!!

sounds to me like a faulty powersupply. Is the powersupply fan spinning up when you turn the machine on?

.... and even if the fan is working the power supply could still be borked , the power supply is now my first check before I do anything with a broken machine (I once took back 3 mobo's to my supplier until he asked the question :D)

The power supply fan is not spinning and the tower shows no signs of life at all.

can i suggest you try changing the fuse inside the plug, as a fuse in a plug is designed to offer protoection against some sort of stuff.

Did you pcmake a smell when it went?

I remember when mine caught fire inside, you could see it glowing orange through the beige case, and there was a terrible stentch, mine worked after it though. (I think it was a rubber band that burnt as iopened my case up several months later ie. last month and i found a piece of broken rubber band.)
