modify programs

Does anyone know how to modify other programs. For example, deadaim modifies AOL instant messenger. Any information or links will be helpful. Thanks.

Deadaim is a "plugin" program, it uses hooks deliberately provided in IM to provide additional functionality. If you want to provide additional functions in IM you should search the AOL websites for the API they provide for use in Plugins.
