Hey all,

I have this old computer, and wanted to change a few bios settings, which require me to move some jumpers. I downloaded the manual of the net, and found the instructions. Now I just opened the case, and it seems many jumpers are actually missing (when functions are set to off), instead of present.

Now, I thought I'd take a jumper from an old harddrive, but it it like 1mm to large to fit on the socket-thingy. And going all the way out of town for a stupid thing if 2x2x1mm if not less seems a bit to much work. :D

Except for permanent things, anyone know anything that could suffice instead?

Thanks :D

hmm any small conductive piece of metal that can be bent around the pins would be good enough just make sure it doesnt contact any other pins on the board and is secure.... maybe solder would be good enough not sure

Look around for some old interface (modem?) boards, they often used the larger jumpers like you find on the motherboard.

Another solution I employed, which worked quite well, is to find a piece of multi-stranded, insulated copper wire, like speaker wire. Cut a short bit, and then strip off the end revealing the copper strands. With a pair of pliers, or in my case a pair of teeth, pull out about 2 or 3 strands. Now, trim the piece short, bend it into a 'U' shape, and slide both ends over the jumper to short out the pins.

You have a nice, insulated jumper that can easily be replaced if lost, and can be easily removed.

I used ElectricSheeps suggestion and it works great :)
