Hi, I need some suggestions. I'm currently facillitating a move for one of my customers from their current web host to one I'm an affiliate of. Here's the problem: All of the people that have email accounts use web-based email with the current host.

The concern on their end is that they will lose all of their stored email, thus the reason I have yet to make the domain name switch to the new servers. If they had been using Outlook, Outlook Express, etc., then this obviously wouldn't be an issue. What options do I have?

Thanks,
Ash

I know its a pain but....
Set up their new email and have them forward all the old email to the new account.

Unless the existing email provider will let them download and backup the mail directly their only option is to sent the mail to a place they can.

Define "web-based"? Are they on an Exchange Server with webmail or are they on a Linux box with sendmail / postfix and using Horde / Squirrel mail?

Either way, there should be some migration utility.

They're using squirrel.

Then you should be able to simply copy their old email files to the new server (if you use squirrel on the new server to).
